Mumbai, in it’s true sense is a financial capital of Maharashtra. Lakhs and Crores financial of transactions are done here. Earlier, it was assumed that there are only few communities such as Gujarathi, Sindhi, Marwadi’s only can do business. When Maharashtrians come together they can talk only on politics, cricket and film industry. If a Marathi person wants to do a business, he is never get encouragement from the community, it was a general trend. But now there are many successful businessmen(Marathi) who have proved this wrong.
This journey is of “Small Scale Marathi Business Community”. This community is taking efforts to make to establish their name in the market by giving experts services in their own businesses.
One and half years ago, a group was formed by name “Pathik Business Group”. The members of this group use to meet together and discuss on new opportunities in the market for business growth. This in turn will help them to serve the people better or create easy of operations in the daily life of the people.
The motive of the group was to come together to learn something new constantly. This vision gave birth to BSS (Brain Storming Session) in 2009.
Each member of this group is dealing in their business, approximately in same layer i.e, 3 to 5 crores financial transactions. As they all were working on the same platform, they were facing almost similar ups and downs in the business like searching place for the office, selecting staff for the office work and recovery from the market etc. This group use to face countless problems while running their business.
Due to these ups and downs, group unanimously decided that any member of the group needs any help in the business, the members will come together and will find out the solution to a problem after taking every ones opinion. In short, they will help each other in crises using their experience and knowledge to have successful business for ever.
The group is working together on this thought for last 10 years. This group currently consist of 22 to 25 member from different fields, different businesses. The group work on predefined norms. First Tuesday, of every month they come together to share their thoughts, knowledge and experience. There is also a picnic for members once in 3 months and picnic with family once in a year.
When the BSS was formed some rules were laid down for the member and it was decided to follow them strictly. The rules like they should not forget the vision and mission of the group , when they will meet together or when they will out for the picnic. There will be focused discussion on business growth, no other topics will be discussed during the meet even when they go for picnic.
Initially for few months, group’s meetings were held in Bungalow near Borivali National Park. Later these meetings were also held in Andheri and Dadar. These meetings sometimes took place in one of the member office itself when the attendees were few. Members of this group faced many ups and downs during last 10 years, but they overcome those and never looked back. They helped the group to move ahead successfully.
To achieve the motive of gathering business knowledge, the group adopts creative methods instead monotonous regular meetings. They keep competitions during their meets which motivates members to participate and gets information by play way method too. During monthly meetings, in beginningthe members share their achievements. They also shares methods, processes used for achieving the same. Later, they discuss current issues in the business faced by the members.
The concept of having family picnic once in a year is to make family members aware about their business, families also gets familiar to each other. This helps family member to take business decision in the absence of group member. The other important benefit is, it helps to create legacy for the business.
BSS has taken a new project in this year to establish its Trust (BSS Trust). The trustee for the BSS Trust is “Mr. DattatrayaAdate”, “Mr. Hitesh Chavhan”, “Mr. Sanjay Pawar”. The Managing Committee head is “Mr. Ajay Shah” and Chief Mentor of this trust is “Mr. Vineet Bansode”
